Quick review: It’s hard to believe that this Gore Vidal play was written in 1960 – before Tom Eagleton, Bill Clinton, Anthony Weiner, and so many other political figures felled by the fact that they are flawed.
Councilman Ashbaugh, of course, has no flaws… at least, none that you need to know about! Seriously, it’s a great play and it serves a great purpose: To remind us of how great a loss we experienced when Gore Vidal died last summer, and to put the entire enterprise of politics into perspective. We are all human, and none of us are saints.
